Beach Baby
It felt like it was never going to happen, but my holidays finally started… and ended! (Although I still have some days left). We flew out of Shanghai on August 17 at night and the next day, after two planes and a car ride, we made it to Chipiona.

Fun fact: Chipiona’s lighthouse is the highest in Spain!
Chipiona is a seaside town in the southwestern coast of Spain where I’ve been spending my holidays since I was a child. Well, nowadays I cannot go every year, but I like going whenever I have the chance. I spent many nice summers there with a group of great friends and I fondly remember those years. Now everybody has different jobs and some of us have kids, but I still managed to meet several of those friends this year.

As you can see, I was the whitest in the whole beach. This is not a good thing in Spain, hahaha.
I was very excited to bring Baby A. to the beach as he had never seen the sea and the sand. He loved it! He was playing all the time with his little bucket and shovel and also liked getting in the water, even though some days it was quite cold. As you can see in the pictures, his official uniform for those two weeks was his SPF tshirt and his beach hat.
In the mornings we always went to the beach and in the afternoons to the swimming pool. Baby A. doesn’t really like the grass on his feet and tries to avoid it as much as he cans (i.e. crawling on one foot only. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of that!). We also went for walks and had ice cream. Well, I had it and he demanded to try mine. I gave him a little bit and felt very guilty but, hey, holidays in the beach only happen once a year.
Once you are a mom, you always wind up giving your kid your food. Ice-cream seems reasonable. My Baby Brother used to demand my parents’ wine at the dinner table.
Stick with ice-cream.
What? He liked the taste of wine? I don’t even like it now and as I kid I would vomit just smelling it, haha.
I feel exactly the same way. Weird kid.
It always makes me smile to see how serious young children are about their “work” of shoveling sand. Nice photos of you and your friends.
Baby A. was also very serious about destroying anything we built on the sand, haha.
REALLY stellar photos! Enjoy the beach! xo
Ah, my beach days are over! Now I’m in my (non coastal) hometown.
Hope you are having a lovely holiday :)
How lovely you got to spend time with some of your long term friends and for them to meet Baby A. Special!!
Yes!! We’ve been friends for over 20 years!
Wonderful!!! Enjoy many more years of friendship. My longest friendships are forty-six years and still going strong.
Aww, hope you’re enjoying yourself in Spain! Looks so fun! ❤️

Thanks, Charmaine!
Looks like a sunny and warm beach holiday! Looked like such a good time. Also it is great to see Baby A wear an SPF shirt. Don’t want sunburn or early sun damage. Hahaha. Being that pale is so approved in China 😀
I am so scared of sunburns. When I was a child there wasn’t so much awareness and every summer I would get burnt because my parents only used SPF 8… Now I use SPF 50 for me and the baby plus the T-shirt for him.
I am indeed praised for my white skin in China but here I’m laughed at for being too white, haha!
The beach looks wonderful. We managed it this year also a few times to a beach but never went swimming. My wife can’t swim, the kids cant swim so I have no motivation either…
Your wife can’t swim? That is SO Chinese, hahaha. Teach her! And the kids too! You are a pro! But well, they just need to learn how not to drown. I think it’s important for safety!
Tried to teach her for years but didn’t work at all. In her mind it is so engraved that water will kill you..
So glad your child will learn about Spain. As he grows, these will be wonderful memories for all of you.
Yes! He won’t remember, but we have the pictures, hehehe.
If you keep going… he will remember! :)
It’s so cool to see the beach on the other side of the world.
Summer at the beach :) Happy you had a fun holiday!
I know all about being the palest one at a Spanish beach. Hahahahaha! Every year I get you’re so pale, you burn easily. Why thank you for pointing that out!
As if we didn’t know those things before someone told us xD
I’ve now started replying I’ve never noticed in my life I’m so pale ;)
